How are you? I hope you are all enjoying your weekend so far.
Today, I would like to share with you how I get inspired. I will also give you some tips and tricks so that you will hopefully also feel like a new flow of inspiration and creativity has come over you after following these steps. Let’s get right into it!
Lately, I have felt really uninspired. Whenever I have this feeling, I always seek creativity in any shape or form. Usually, the first thing I will do is open the YouTube app on my phone and grab my earphones. I check out if the channels I am subscribed to have posted any new videos, or I will search my recommended home page. Usually, that is the page that inspires me the most, since it connects me to new YouTubers and new types of videos. I especially notice that I enjoy watching very personal videos (just like you are talking with a friends!) or interviews. I think it is so interesting to hear what other people have to say and see what their thought processes are like. On the complete other side, I also enjoy seeing more cinematic/artistic videos that will give me new insights when it comes to content photography-focused content.
Pinterest is also a great platform to spend a couple of hours on. I have always loved to design mood boards and in that way see all the things that grasped my attention as a whole. Instagram is also one big mood board for me. The (new) ‘save’ function is absolutely fantastic! It is so nice to just scroll through your feed and whenever you see something that you would like to look at for a bit longer/save permanently, you can do so by making a folder. I use this function a lot when I for example see a nice outfit which I would like to recreate, but also when I see beautiful quotes that I want myself to remind me of: I simply collect them all in a specific folders. Before I visit a city, I also search hashtags and locations to see what that destination is like and how I can also take nice pictures there.
As you can see by the examples above, digital visuals really leave me feeling inspired. Though, in real life the thing that inspires me most is traveling, by far. Seeing new places, meeting new people, discovering a new culture and tasting new food: getting out of my hometown has a huge effect on me. After my travels I always have a lot of to think about and therefore a lot to write about (on my blog). While I am traveling I often subconsciously (without paying too much attention to it) take a lot of pictures of my environment. Once I am back home, I look back at these pictures and re-experience everything once more, which unfolds another layer of inspiration for me since my perspectives has often changed a bit after making all of the memories and being back home again.
Music is also a great way for me to let go of my lack of creativity and uninspired mindset. Pressing ‘shuffle’ on the Global Top 50 Spotify playlist is always a good idea when you would like to discover new (pop-)music (which is usually a real boost when it comes to inspiration). Also looking into lyrics of your favorite artists is a very original yet surprising thing to do and really makes you think about the song in a new way. Putting on some music makes me feel so much more energized afterwards. Crazy how sounds can influence your mood and completely switch it around.
Working out is also a perfectl activity when you want to clear your mind and create some space for new ideas and dreams; a necessity for inspiration, if you ask me! It might not be the most fun thing to do at first, but afterwards you will thank me. Just going for a walk in the fresh winter air will also do the job!
I hope this blog also was a source of inspiration for you today ;). I am curious to hear what you do when you feel uninspired!
See you soon!
Lots of love,
